£17,749.00 Raised For The Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity
1st Jun 2011
Gentle Consulting is pleased to have The Countess Mountbatten Hospice Charity (www.cmhcharity.org.uk) as its partnering charity and a staggering £17,749.00 has been raised in the first year of fundraising.
Fundraising took the form of maximising the recycling potential for surplus and redundant items from the Building 62 Decommissioning project that Gentle Consulting undertook for the University of Southampton. Approximately 80% of the furniture and equipment passed to Gentle Consulting (in excess of 1,500 individual items) found new homes to extend their usable life, the remaining unusable items were sent to a local waste recycling centre meaning that only a tiny fraction was not able to be re-used in some way. Some of the more interesting items to find new homes included a horticultural sprayer destined for Thailand, a liquid nitrogen tank that raised £750 and a lamp post for a local farmer looking for better security!
The Winchester Guildhall project also assisted in the fundraising with donations being made by many sub-contractors connected with the project.
Well done to everyone that has contributed and been involved in the fundraising especially Jim Goodwin, the Gentle seven-a-side football team (who remain unbeaten) and Senior Construction Managers, Colin Bates and Geoff Wardell.
