Project Award: Hyde House, Winchester

Winchester City Council has appointed Gentle Consulting Project Manager and Contract Administrator in the refurbishment of Hyde House. The buildings that form the make up of Hyde House consist of the original Manor House (Grade II* Listed) together with the later added Masonry Storage Buildings (Grade II Listed).
As Project Manager the scope of services to be provided include formalising all contract appointments, strategic programming, risk analysis, liaising on party wall matters, managing pre-construction surveys as well as the design and tendering processes.
The listed status of the site requires that the works undertaken respect the historic nature of the structures within. Work from previous refurbishments will need to be sympathetically updated to bring them into keeping with the surroundings and due to the proximity of the old Hyde Abbey there will be a strong archaeological interest in any excavation works undertaken together with significant local interest.
Once completed Hyde House will become new offices and design studios for Adam Architecture.
From start to finish, Gentle provided a diligent yet refreshingly agile approach. The project was completed on time and to budget.
