Building 34 Refurbishment

The project involved the refurbishment of Building 34 on all 5 levels to convert existing cellourised 1930s accommodation into modern flexible seminar spaces. A total of 9 seminar spaces were created together with additional toilet/shower facilities, refurbished administration space and general upgrade for means of escape and DDA. The work also involved demolition, extensive asbestos removal, decorations, new suspended ceilings/carpets, electrical installations, new automatic entrance doors and external fire escape bridge. The project was completed in 3 phases whilst the building remained operational requiring careful management of construction operations to minimise the impact on staff/students.

Gentle Consulting was commissioned as master consultant taking fully responsibility for all aspects of the project including design and construction forming a closely integrated project team.
