Winchester Guildhall Refurbishment

Gentle Consulting was appointed as Project Manager, Construction Manager and Cost Consultant for the phased refurbishment and alteration of the Guildhall, Winchester. As a listed building the works were required to be monitored and approved by a Conservation Officer and Building Control Officer throughout the duration of the contract.

The phasing of the refurbishment works was carefully planned in order to maintain access to the building by the general public at all times. The major enhancement works included; a new café opening on to The Broadway, refurbishment of the main banqueting hall and provision of new catering facilities, as well as the creation of a new level access from The Broadway, installation of a new lift serving all floors, refurbishment of all primary circulation areas and improved access to the third floor function suite. In addition all roof coverings were replaced and roofs insulated to extend the life of the building.
