National Oceanography Centre Southampton (NOCS) Rainwater Goods Replacement

Gentle Consulting was appointed as master consultant (which included project and cost management) to undertake replacement of the existing rainwater goods to the main National Oceanography Centre (a joint venture between the University of Southampton and the National Environmental Research Council) building. Amounting to nearly two kilometres of guttering and downpipes this project demanded close liaison with occupiers in a live environment to ensure a safe installation with the minimum of disruption.

Gentle Consulting developed a specification suitable for installation in a marine environment in accordance with the latest building regulations which demand larger section sizes for improved rainwater collection whilst still giving consideration to below ground drainage capacity.
