Gentle Consulting has been appointed as Project Manager and Cost Consultant for the construction of a pair of semi-detached houses within the confinement of surrounding buildings close to the historical square of Wickham. The site had a number of constraining factors not least access and the careful removal of Japanese Knot Weed that had to be disposed of as contaminated waste. As the site is severely constrained, negotiations with neighbours and in particular, the Party Wall Act, were important factors to implement as was the delivery of materials for the construction work, the sole vehicular access route was in the ownership of three parties.
Gentle Consulting formulated a two stage tendering procedure and concluded the final negotiations with F E Chase & Son Limited for the construction of the new properties based on a standard JCT Intermediate form of contract but with the amendment that valuation of work in progress would be geared to key stage completion.
